IT’S AN ERROR TO SAY THAT THE CHURCH KILLED SAMMIE OKPOSO

Table of Contents

Some weeks ago, I saw a video of a preacher saying that “the Church killed Sammie Okposo”. I wasn’t surprised because he is good at jumping to conclusions on issues he hasn’t taken enough time to meditate and obtain the accurate knowledge for a balanced teaching.

Firstly, the Church is the body of Christ (1 Cor 12:27, Col. 1:8) with Christ as the head. Therefore, it cannot and has not killed anyone.

Secondly, the Church is not the building or denomination but is made up of born-again, believers in different denominations around the world.

Thirdly, referring to the wrong, legalistic doctrine of any section or denomination as the Church is carnal.

And lastly, every man is responsible for his/her actions & life experiences. We all have the “willpower” to choose and allow what happens to us. It’s childish & of a weak mentality to blame another person or thing for whatever happens to you.

Notwithstanding, we can safely say that the religious, legalistic, erroneous doctrines of law mixed with grace, taught by some denominations might have adversely affected his health status when he erred but the choice still remains with him.

Don’t allow anyone to keep you in bondage by legalistic doctrine about sin, eternal salvation, divorce, tithe & offering, etc. Seek the truth in Christ & experience real freedom in Christ.

Out of ignorance & holier-than-thou attitude, some Christians treat those who fall into sin as outcasts & abominable. They forget that “he that has no sin should cast the first stone”. Jesus never condemned anyone but lovingly draws them out of sin by his goodness (Rm. 2:4).

Instead of lovingly restoring those who fall, they worsen the situation by all manner of inordinate, religious dealings & condemnations, especially, if it’s of sexual sin. Meanwhile, their lives are also laden with sins, which they will call little sins (e.g. gossip, lying, pride, etc.)

There is nothing like small or big sin before God; all sins are equal, for sin is simply the transgression of the law of love (1Jn 3:4). And therefore, to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin (Jm 4:17)

That is the reason we are saved ONLY BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH IN CHRIST ALONE and not by any good works. None of us, including all General overseas & pastors, can be good enough by our actions & self-holiness to merit heaven (Eph 2:8,9).

Nevertheless, my greatest joy is that death is not the worst thing to happen to any man. The worst thing is when a man rejects the message of salvation & refuses to accept Christ. He is condemned already (Jn 3:15-18).

Our beloved brother, Sammie, is resting in the bosom of the Lord waiting for the sound of the trumpet and the resurrection of life.

Glory to God for evermore
